artist statement

As a process-oriented sculptor, drawing is important to the way I work. I am attracted to schematics and diagrams, and this is how I work through ideas. I appreciate the breadth of information that accumulates on paper throughout the drafting process: multiple views, dimensions, details, and the graphic quality of a straight line. I try to transform that line into three dimensions. Just as a schematic is a combination of symbols that represent physical information, I use symbolic elements to capture a tenuous relationship or moment in time.
